Denman water treatment plant and river intake

Ion exchange softening unit. Denman Water Treatment Plant, commissioned in April 2008.
Membrane Filtration Unit Sand Filters.

Denman Water Treatment Plant was officially commissioned in April 2008. The construction of the plant was the culmination of a three stage program to supply the township of Denman with high quality drinking water.

Stage 1 was the construction of 2kms of new outlet main linking the existing 5ML reservoir to the town. This separated raw and treated water flows, leaving a dedicated inlet main to deliver raw water from the river direct to the proposed treatment works site.

Stage 2 was the upgrade of the inlet works on the bank of the Hunter River to a permanent river intake, with a well and screens built to house a submersible pump, and two high lift pumps to send the water uphill to the treatment plant site.

Stage 3 was the design and construction of the 2.7 ML/day Water Treatment Plant adjacent to the town reservoir.

Now that this three stage project is complete, the supply of high quality drinking water to Denman is now assured.
