A booklet entitled “Becoming a Councillor” is available on the Department of Local Government Website www.dlg.nsw.gov.au

The Department has also produced a fact sheet “How to have your say in Council.” The fact sheet is available from www.dlg.nsw.gov.au 

The Electoral Commission has established a dedicated enquiry line to assist councillors and candidates. In order to ensure that councillors and prospective candidates receive consistent information, any enquiries regarding the Regulation, and electoral legislation generally, should be made to Elections Enquiries on 1300 135 736. Further information on the election timetable and implementation of the new provisions is available on the Electoral Commission NSW website: www.elections.nsw.gov.au.

 

Council and committee meetings

Prospective candidates are invited to attend Committee and Council meetings to observe how meetings are held.
