Outstanding Contributor to Cultural Award
The Outstanding Contributor to Culture in Muswellbrook Shire and Outstanding Contributor to Culture - Youth are awarded to people who have made a significant contribution to the culture in Muswellbrook Shire either as a result of a particular event or in performing a service over a number of years. Cultural Youth nominees should be no more than 25 years of age at 1st January each year.
Shane Delforce
Shane is being recognised for his achievements in the Performing Arts which includes:
- Being Treasurer of the Muswellbrook Amateur Theatrical Society (MATS) since 2006.
- Being an active member of MATS.
- Being the Lighting Director and Technical Advisor for 6 years.
- Providing sound equipment and labour to MATS, Muswellbrook High School and St Joseph’s High School as a volunteer.
- Being a Teacher at TAFE and providing mentoring and leadership after hours.
- Being a mentor in equipment to young MATS members.
- Being the Treasurer of Muswellbrook Scouts for 3 years.
- Helping organise MATS musicals and plays since 2005.
Janelle French
- Janelle is being recognised for her achievements in the Arts which includes:
- Being Deputy Band Master.
- Being a Staff member of the Muswellbrook Shire Concert Band.
- Being a MATS Music and band teacher in schools throughout the Upper Hunter.
- Being an Upper Hunter Conservatorium of Music Band Performer.
Rachel-Ann is being recognised for her achievements in the performing arts which include:
- Being a member of MATS (Muswellbrook Amateur Theatrical Society) since 2002.
- Being the Convenor for the Vocal Section of the Upper Hunter Eisteddfod Committee since 2006.
- Being the Director of the production of “Wizard of Oz” in 2004.
- Being leading actress in the 2003 production of “Secret Bridesmaids Business”
- Being Producer of the 2010 production of “Annie - The Musical”.
Larnie is being recognised for her achievements in the performing arts which includes:
- Organising Youth and Adult Drama Forums.
- Being involved in all aspects of the Muswellbrook Amateur Theatrical Society (MATS).
- Being a Convenor at the Muswellbrook and Upper Hunter Eisteddfod.
- Increasing awareness and involvement in art/cultural activities in the Shire.
- Coordinating Drama Workshops and funding for these workshops.
Stuart is being recognised for his contribution to music and the arts which includes:
- Being involved in the Lights and Sounds side of Muswellbrook Amateur Theatrical Society Productions for 15 years;
- Being involved in the Lights and Sounds side of productions by Local Schools;
- Being an Honourable Life Member of Muswellbrook Amateur Theatrical Society;
- Being involved in the 2000 Olympic Torch Relay.
Norma is being recognised for her contribution to music and the arts which includes:
- Being an active band member of the Muswellbrook Shire Concert Band.
- Being an organiser of Muswellbrook Shire Concert Band 40 Year Reunion.
- Playing the organ at the Anglican Church.
- Volunteering to work with choirs and the Eisteddfod.
- Being a member of the Muswellbrook Local and Family History Society.
- Being a regular columnists for the Band with the Muswellbrook Chronicle.
Beverley is being recognised for her contribution to Aboriginal culture including:
- Participation on many committees including Department of Environment and Conservation and Department of Infrastructure and Planning and Natural Resources in the management of local National Parks and waterways.
- Takes school children on cultural tours around the Hunter educating children of all ages about Aboriginal culture and teaches Aboriginal language and songs
