Outstanding Contributor to Cultural Award -Youth
The Outstanding Contributor to Culture in Muswellbrook Shire and Outstanding Contributor to Culture - Youth are awarded to people who have made a significant contribution to the culture in Muswellbrook Shire either as a result of a particular event or in performing a service over a number of years. Cultural Youth nominees should be no more than 25 years of age at 1st January each year.
Jordan is being recognised for his achievements in arts which include:
- Starting and running an Art Competition for Upper Hunter Primary Schools since 2008, the “Jordan Wallace Competition”.
- Organising the Schools, judging the entries and presenting the winners with trophies in the “Jordan Wallace Competition”.
- Achieving Dux in advertising – College 2007.
- Achieving Dux in Marketing – College 2007.
- Achieving 1st Place in “Make a short film Competition” in 2007.
Edwina is being recognised for her achievements in the performing arts which includes:
- Contributing to the Muswellbrook Amateur Theatrical Society (MATS) – 10 years life member.
- Participating in many art exhibitions throughout the Hunter Valley.
- Receiving numerous photography awards at local shows and galleries.
- Receiving second place in Esther Bell Youth Prize, Council’s Choice Award.
- Encouraging friends and family to participate in exhibitions with their entires or to visit exhibitions.
Muswellbrook South Public School Senior Choir is being recognised for their achievements in singing which includes:
- represented the Shire in many local, regional and state performances over the last three year.
- Received commendation from community groups for their performances.
- Invited to participate at the Primary Proms Concert in Sydney in September 2007 (1 of only 3 regional schools).
- Being the only Upper Hunter Choir to attend the Newcastle Regional Music Festival in 2008.
- being successful participants in the Upper Hunter Eisteddfod from 2006-2008
- Performing at the Muswellbrook Marketplace and Upper Hunter Nursing Homes singing carols
Megan is being recognised for her outstanding efforts in dance which includes:
- Being a Dance Convenor for the Upper Hunter Eisteddfod for 2 years;
- Assisting St Joseph’s High School with their 2007 Musical Production;
- Being a member of Muswellbrook Amateur Theatrical Society for 10 years;
- Owner/Operator of Aberdeen Dance Studio;
- Taught at Blues Dance School since 15 years old;
- Representing her local area in “Australia’s Greatest Fashion Show” exhibition in Bangladesh, Narabri and Aberdeen.
Emma is being recognised for her contribution to cultural, sporting, academic and community activities which includes:
- Performing and acting in local Muswellbrook Amateur Theatrical Society productions.
- Being a student of the Upper Hunter Conservatorium of Music.
- Singing and dancing, both jazz and modern styles.
- Performing in school musicals including achieving a lead role.
- Being a peer support leader at Muswellbrook High School.
- Receiving certificates and awards in Japanese language.
Nicholas is being recogised for his outstanding efforts in community music groups which includes:
- Being a member of the Muswellbrook Shire Concert Band, the Upper Hunter Conservatorium Orchestra, MATS production “Shake your Tail Feather”, Muswellbrook High School Concert and Stage Bands and “9 to tango”;
- Receiving School Awards in 2005 for Academic Achievement in Music;
- Assisting with local primary schools music events;
Vanessa is being recognised for her outstanding efforts in Visual Arts during her six years of study at Muswellbrook High School including:
- Selection for Art Express NSW
- Participation in a group of students who designed and painted a section of the mural at Bengalla Mine
- First place in Music in Years 10, 11 & 12 Muswellbrook High School
