2nd Muswellbrook Australia Day Art Award
Congratulations and thank you to all who entered the competition.
First prize
Andrew Davis - Eco-operatives mixed media.
“Andrew’s Eco-operatives depicts a layered aerial viewpoint with elements of responses to typical aspects of the Upper Hunter landscape, coupled with universally acknowledged symbols suggestive of celebration and hope, not to mention the somewhat quirky calligraphic marks. It invites the viewer to extend their own imagination to “see” the world through their own eyes in a new and stimulating way. It stands out, to me, as a work which embodies one of the key features of what makes an artist not only a producer of easily identifiable images, but, more importantly a “visionary” who can transport the viewers to a new and exciting world. I feel that this work shows a sensitive and novel approach to the theme for the competition: Muswellbrook – Agriculture, Industry and Culture.”
