Local and Family History
The following information has been provided by the Muswellbrook
Local and Family History Society Inc. Any enquiries regarding information
contained on this page should be directed to the Society. Weidmann cottage dates from the 1840's, a typical middle-class merchants
townhouse and shop, it lacks the normal refinement of the larger country
homes of that time. The Cottage takes its name from Muswellbrook butcher
Albert Weidmann, whose family owned the property from 1891-1977 . It was
restored by Muswellbrook Shire Council in 1988 with financial assistance
from grants and the local community. It is now used by the Muswellbrook
and Upper Hunter Historical society as a Heritage centre
