There are two choices from Brisbane.  Travel the Coast via the Pacific Highway, or thru the New England Region via the New England Highway
Pacific Hwy Route - head south heading towards Sydney.  At the Hexham interchange just North of Newcastle, Turn right and head towards Maitland onto the New England Highway.  Follow the New England Highway for approx 120kms to Muswellbrook
New England Hwy Route - From Brisbane head West towards Ipswich, then via the Cunningham Hwy to Warwick.  At Warwick, follow the New England Hwy south to Muswellbrook
