Food businesses are required to comply with the Food Safety Standards.

If you plan to open a new, or renovate an existing food business your first step is to contact Council's Environmental Services Department.

You may be required to submit a development application.

Your initial enquiry with Council will determine whether you will be required to submit a development application. If this is the case Council will request detailed plans and elevations of food preparation and food storage areas. These plans will include the finishes of the floors, walls, ceilings, benches and shelves; elevations of fixtures and fittings; and location of sinks and hand wash basins.
