About the Project
Works to upgrade the road in Hill Street, Muswellbrook – between Bridge Street and the railway line – will commence 11 April 2023, weather permitting.
The works will include road pavement construction, including asphalt surfacing, new kerb and gutter and landscaping.
Council has engaged Contractors KCE Pty Ltd who will establish on site in early April.
During the period of construction, from 11 April 2023 until approximately mid-June 2023, Hill Street will be closed to through traffic and will be accessible to residents and business operators only.
Project Update 11/04/2023
Hill Street is now closed between New England Highway and the railway line to allow for the completion of road upgrades. During the road works, access to Muswellbrook Library car park will be via Brook Street. The road closure and access changes will be in place until the completion of the project (approximately June 2023).

Works this week largely involved site establishment, road closure and traffic control, minor tree removal along with the removal of existing kerb and guttering in preparation for construction of new kerb and guttering and road pavement.
Reminder: access to the Muswellbrook Library Carpark is via Brook Street.

Earthworks and utility adjustments are being undertaken in preparation for pavement construction. These works will continue next week.

The works this week have involved adjustments to utility services and working to relocate property water services. Preparations are being undertaken for the construction of new kerb and gutter.

Work has been on hold this week awaiting the required utility adjustments to be undertaken. Work is planned to relocate and lower the water services with the road next week.

Utility adjustments are now completed. Work in the coming week will focus on preparing for kerb and gutter construction.

In Hill Street, works to upgrade the road and car park are progressing according to the scheduled timeframe. The kerb and gutter works are in progress which will continue next week, weather permitting.
Project Update 19/06/2023
The kerb and gutter work is complete, and the contractor is now working the accessible parking sign to be installed before the asphalting work takes place.

Final sealing of the road is programmed to be undertaken next week, weather permitting, which will achieve a major project milestone. The remaining work will involve site restoration and contractor demobilisation, following which the road will be reopened to the public.

Asphalt surfacing of the road was undertaken this week. The remaining work will involve site restoration, line marking and contractor demobilisation. It is necessary to leave the pavement to settle for two weeks prior to line marking, so it is planned to reopen the road to the public on Tuesday 22 August 2023.
