Muswellbrook Garden Improver
Our Garden Improver is a Pasteurised Garden Organics Mulch created from garden organics waste, including the lawn clippings, prunings and raked leaves you put into the green-lidded bin. That waste provides the raw material for pasteurisation and, after a careful and closely regulated process, produces a high quality product for your use.
Check out the infographic below and Gene the Gardener will take you through the Green Lid Bin Journey – full circle from bin to garden and around again.
Correctly using the green bin by only depositing garden organics waste and keeping garbage items out ensures Council is able to produce a high quality product for your use.

Love Food Hate Waste Tracking Survey 2017, State of New South Wales and the Environment Protection Authority 2018Waste is an increasing problem in Australia. By reducing waste, we can save a lot of money. A survey in NSW found that the average household throws out about $3805 each year. On average, up to 40% of a household bin is food.

Clean Up Australia Day
In 2020, over 750 community members supported Clean Up Australia Day, sending a powerful message to the community that littering and illegal dumping is not acceptable.

Schools Clean Up Australia Day – Friday before Community Clean Up Australia Day.
Business Clean Up Australia Day – Tuesday before Community Clean Up Australia Day.
Muswellbrook Shire Council hosts events in Muswellbrook and Denman and supports other organisations to host their own events. Events and activities should be planned at least a month before the date so necessary resources can be provided.
