The NSW Government introduced the Integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R) framework with the purpose of encouraging and assisting councils to better communicate and consult with their communities to reflect their vision.
The Integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R) Framework brings together all of Council’s key plans into one connected, strategic approach to shaping the future of Muswellbrook Shire.
It recognises that while most communities share common goals—like a safe, healthy, and sustainable place to live—how each community responds to those needs is unique. IP&R ensures Council’s plans and policies work together to reflect our community’s values and priorities, and to make the best use of our resources.
This framework helps Council plan holistically, understand how different strategies interact, and stay focused on the big picture. It also keeps the community closely involved at every step, through regular engagement and reporting.
The main components of the IP&R Framework include:
Community Strategic Plan – our shared 10+ year vision for the Shire
Resourcing Strategy – how Council will fund and support the delivery of that vision
Delivery Program – Council’s four-year commitment to action, aligned with the term of elected councillors
Operational Plan – detailed projects and services for the year ahead
Annual Report – a yearly snapshot of Council’s progress and performance
