Successful projects announced by Deputy Premier

Successful applications to Round 5 of the Stronger Country Communities Fund (SCCF) will see Muswellbrook Shire Council receive just over $1 million in funding for five projects aimed at improving the wellbeing of the community.

The fund, open to regional councils, eligible community organisations and Local Aboriginal Land Councils, aims to boost the wellbeing of communities in regional areas and help regional councils deliver facilities that are a part of everyday lives – such as bike paths, sports fields, main street upgrades, playgrounds and community centres.

Muswellbrook Shire Mayor Steve Reynolds said that as our regions grow and become home to more diverse communities, the Stronger Country Communities Fund contributes to making regional towns great places to live, raise a family and thrive.

“These grants provide funding for the grassroots projects which are making a huge difference across our region. In this round the Shire has been allocated just over $1 million for community projects,” he said.

The program, administered by the Department of Regional NSW, seeks to improve amenities and grants are available for community and sporting infrastructure, street beautification and projects that enhance accessibility and inclusion for people with disability and local events.

The successful projects are:

  • Upgrade to amenities at Victoria Park – $100,000
  • Public Buildings Accessibility Program – $100,000
  • Civic Precinct Pocket Park – $250,000
  • Animal Care and Sustainability Hub – Watercourse and Riparian Corridor – $300,000
  • Accessible paths around four bus shelters across Muswellbrook – $267,767

NSW government Deputy Premier, Paul Toole, in announcing the grants, said that 530 successful projects across regional NSW will share in the $160 million allocated to Round 5 of the fund.
