Sustainable Education Grants

Muswellbrook Shire Council’s Sustainable Education Grants program supports local initiatives that raise awareness and educate the community about sustainability.

Muswellbrook Shire Council is inviting local schools, early learning centres, and community organisations to apply for its 2025 Sustainable Education Grants, which open on Monday, 21 July, and close on Monday, 11 August.

The grant program supports initiatives that raise awareness and educate the community about sustainability. Funding can be used for a wide range of activities, including purchasing equipment, hiring a guest speaker or consultant or organising sustainable transport options like buses for excursions.

Grants can be used to support a wide range of activities including:

  • Hiring a guest speaker or consultant
  • Purchasing equipment or materials
  • Organising transport for excursions
  • Running workshops or educational events

Eligibility Criteria

Funding is available for incorporated community groups, registered charities, childcare centres, and educational facilities located in the Muswellbrook Shire Local Government Area.

Applications will be assessed on the following:

  • The level of awareness raising and education the initiative is likely to have. This can be measured by the number of people likely to be impacted by the project.
  • The impact they are likely to have on the environment. e.g., the amount of waste reduction that is likely to occur due to the project. This can be measured by the weight of the waste likely to be diverted from landfill.
  • The ongoing nature of the project.

Before applying, it is requested to first get in touch with our Sustainability Officer, Michael Brady at Michael.Brady@muswellbrook.nsw.gov.au or 0438 276 780.
