Muswellbrook Shire is not currently on any water level restrictions.
Council encourages everyone to be sensible with our water resources and to check our handy tips on being water wise.
How are water restrictions decided?
Water restrictions are determined in the Drought and Emergency Response Management Plan (DERMP), which has been developed for the Upper Hunter Water Utilities Alliance (UHWUA) consisting of Singleton Council, Muswellbrook Shire Council and Upper Hunter Shire Council.
Water restrictions are an effective and low-cost strategy for responding to drought. Water restrictions aim to reduce water demand of Council’s customers through regulating the type and duration of water-using activities. Triggers for water restrictions are determined by levels in the two major storage dams.
