Introducing the NSW Planning Portal
The Planning Portal is a NSW Government mandated system used to lodge planning applications online. From 1 July 2021, Council can only accept applications online through the NSW Planning Portal for the following application types:
- Development Applications
- Complying Development Certificates
- Construction Certificates
- Occupation Certificates
- Subdivision Certificates
- Subdivision Works Certificates
- Appointment of Principle Certifier
- Building Information Certificates
- Activities pursuant to Section 68 of the Local Government Act 1993 (e.g. Install/Operate an on-site sewage management system; Carry out sewer, stormwater and water supply work; Install a manufactured home; Install a domestic oil or solid fuel heating appliance; Operate a caravan park or camping ground; Operate a manufactured home estate etc)
Over time it is expected that most other applications for permits and licences issued by Council will also need to be lodged via the NSW Planning Portal.
Jump onto the Planning Portal at www.planningportal.nsw.gov.au to register, log in, lodge or track your application online or just to have a have a look.
Applicants must have an email address and be able to provide electronic drawings to upload. Hand drawn plans must be scanned not photographed as photos can create distortions that alter the accuracy of the drawing.
Council staff are available to assist with enquiries regarding the new application process and can provide preliminary quotes for Council fees and charges.
If you are unable to lodge online, you can engage the services of a planning consultant to act on your behalf. Local planning consultants can be found online or in the Yellow Pages. If you would like to lodge an application yourself but don’t have access to a computer, you can use a computer at your local library or at Council’s Administration Centre at Campbells Corner.
Planning Portal FAQ's
TopOnce you have submitted your application via the Portal, Council will be notified. Council staff will then review your application to determine if any additional information is required. Should any additional information be required, you will receive an email notification generated from the Portal requesting the information.
When Council is satisfied with the documentation submitted with your application, you will receive an email notification generated from the Portal requesting fees to be paid for your application. Once fees are paid, your application will be formally lodged with Council.

Over time more types of applications will need to be lodged via the Portal.
You will receive an email notification requesting fees to be paid. The email will direct you to log onto the Portal where you will find instructions on how to make your payment. Alternatively, call the Customer Service Team to make payment on 02 6549 3700.
Note: your application will not progress until fees are paid.

Council may request additional information to support the assessment of the application. This additional information is required to be submitted via the NSW Planning Portal.

Note: additional documentation received via email or hardcopy will not be accepted. All additional information must be submitted to Council through the Portal.
