About the Project

Muswellbrook Shire Council has been successful in confirming funding from the NSW Government Disaster Ready Fund 2023-2024 Round One and Resources for Regions Round 9 Funding for construction of new stormwater drainage in Merton Street.

This project involves:

  1. Demolish and remove existing assets and concrete structures as per approved drawing
  2. Construction of concrete driveways, pram ramps, kerb & gutter, footpath, and apron as indicated in the drawings
  3. Supply and install new stormwater drainage works including stormwater pipe (class 4 RCP RRJ) pits and lintel, excavation, back fill (including stabilised sand), sub soil drains and dispose excess material with in a 15km radius, at Council’s preferred site
  4. Construction of road pavement works

Preparation works to upgrade the road and stormwater drainage along parts of Merton Street (between Paxton Street & Palace Street) has commenced. Council has engaged Contractors KCE Pty to undertake the works.

Project Update 5/05/2024

Last week Council and KCE Pty Ltd hosted a gathering for the local residents along Merton Street to inform and discuss the scope of works for the upgrade of road and stormwater drainage. Weather permitting, work will commence onsite mid-May where drainage construction work will commence in Palace Street.

Swale drain excavation works has commenced this week downstream.

Project Update 20/05/2024

Recent works include identification of service locations along Merton Street, and 70% of the downstream swale drain is complete. Stormwater pipe works have begun and will continue over the coming weeks.

Stormwater pipe works are continuing for the next several weeks.

Water main relocations have begun.
