Australia Day Awards

Australia Day is a day to reflect, respect and celebrate. Each year, Muswellbrook Shire Council celebrates Australia Day by acknowledging individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to our community at the annual Australia Day Awards.

Australia Day

Australia Day is an opportunity for communities to come to together and celebrate contemporary Australia while showcasing our diverse culture and recognising our history. While Australia Day means different things to different people, it is a day that welcomes everyone to reflect on their Australian experience – their past, present and future.

Each year Muswellbrook Shire Council celebrates Australia Day by acknowledging individuals who’ve made an outstanding contribution to our community through the annual Australia Day Awards.

The call for nominations goes out at the end of each year, and awards are then presented at the following year’s Australia Day event. Residents can nominate any Muswellbrook Shire community member who is an Australian citizen that has made noteworthy contributions or outstanding achievements in work, studies or community service during the year, or over several years.

The awards pay tribute to the incredible work of individuals in the community and recognise their outstanding contribution to community service and achievements in education, sport, community support, environment and the arts.
