Building Community Cohesion by Connecting to Local Aboriginal Languages
Thanks to NSW Government’s Social Cohesion Grants, Muswellbrook Shire Council received almost $60,000 in 2022 to implement a joint project with Wanaruah Local Aboriginal Land Council – Building Community Cohesion by Connecting to Local Aboriginal Languages – hosted by Aunty Sharon Edgar-Jones.
An Introduction to Wonnarua/Wanaruah/Wanarruwa Language course was developed to provide a range of speaking, reading, writing and listening skills, to encourage the use of the language in the home and to support the revival and maintenance of the language for current and future generations.
