Paying an Infringement

Muswellbrook Shire Council cannot accept payment for an infringement notice.

Infringements must be paid to Revenue NSW. To pay an infringement, see the procedure on the reverse of your penalty notice or view the payment options offered by Revenue NSW.

You need the penalty notice number (at the top of your infringement) to pay a penalty.

Contesting an Infringement

Council cannot discuss or review an infringement.

All enquiries or objections relating to infringement must be made to Revenue NSW. To contest a fine, see the procedure on the reverse of your penalty notice or request a review online.

Conducting the review process through Revenue NSW prevents any potential conflict of interest with Council and staff.

Council Rangers cannot withdraw a Penalty Infringement Notice (fine) once it has been issued or commenced. NSW Revenue is the State Government agency that undertakes debt recovery activities on behalf of Government (state and local) in NSW.

If you are having trouble paying the penalty (fine) amount, you will need to contact NSW Revenue who can advise you if other payment options are available.

If you wish to appeal a fine you can:

  • Submit a request to NSW Revenue, or
  • Elect to go to Court to have the matter heard.

For further information on payment options or appealing a fine, visit NSW Revenue or phone 1300 138 118.
