At the Ordinary Meeting held in Muswellbrook on 23 June 2026, Council endorsed the Draft Private Infrastructure in Road Reserves Policy for 28 days of public exhibition, from 1 July April to 28 July 2026.

The purpose of the policy is to provide principles to guide Council decision making in approving and managing the installation of private structures within road reserves.

The Policy seeks to balance the need for infrastructure development with Council’s responsibilities as a road authority, including the protection of public assets, maintenance of community access, and management of the road network.

A Draft Fees and Charges Schedule associated with the Policy is also on public exhibition. The proposed Fees and Charges Schedule outlines Council’s approach to recovering the costs associated with assessing applications and managing the ongoing occupation of public road reserves by private infrastructure.

Community members are invited to review the draft documents and have your say before close of business on 28 July 2026. Your feedback helps ensure Council’s plans reflect what matters most to our community.

Submissions should be addressed to the General Manager and can be submitted in the following ways:

  • Email – council@muswellbrook.nsw.gov.au
  • Post – PO Box 122, Muswellbrook 2333
  • In person – Council’s Administration Centre – 62-80 Bridge Street, Muswellbrook
  • Ensure your submission quotes ‘DRAFT Private Infrastructure in Road Reserves Policy’
