About the Network
The Sustainable Futures Network brings together schools, preschools and childcare centres across Muswellbrook Shire that are committed to sustainability education and environmental stewardship.
Coordinated by Muswellbrook Shire Council’s Sustainability Unit, the network provides access to funding opportunities, educational resources, workshops, activities and expert advice to help inspire the next generation of environmental leaders.
Current Network Members: The Sustainable Futures Network currently includes 11 schools, preschools and childcare centres from across Muswellbrook Shire.
Award-Winning Network
The Sustainable Futures Network was recognised at the 2025 Local Government NSW Environment Symposium and Awards, receiving the Division A Award for Communication, Education and Empowerment.
The award recognises the network’s success in supporting sustainability education and empowering young people across Muswellbrook Shire to take positive environmental action.

Sustainable Futures Awards
TopThe Sustainable Futures Awards recognise and celebrate schools, preschools and childcare centres that are making a positive contribution to sustainability across Muswellbrook Shire.
Launched in 2026, the awards highlight innovative environmental initiatives, sustainability education programs and projects that inspire positive change within our community.
