Muswellbrook Shire Council has endorsed the Draft Operational Plan 2026/2027 for a 28-day period of public exhibition, inviting community feedback on the priorities and actions that will guide the organisation over the coming financial year.

The Draft Operational Plan has been prepared to outline the key deliverables required to achieve the community’s long-term vision, as set out in the Community Strategic Plan.

The Operational Plan details the annual actions Council will undertake and also incorporates Council’s proposed budget, revenue policy, and schedule of fees and charges for the 2026/2027 financial year.

General Manager, Derek Finnigan, says the Operational Plan provides a clear and practical roadmap for Council’s day-to-day operations.

“It sets targeted deliverables and maps the course Council will take to achieve its priorities,” Mr. Finnigan said.

“It’s the framework we use for our daily operations — a tangible document that guides decision-making and keeps us accountable to our community.”

The General Manager also noted that Council is reviewing its organisational structure to ensure it is aligned with delivering its strategic objectives.

“We are proactively assessing how we operate to ensure we remain efficient, resilient, and equipped to meet the evolving needs of our community in a changing economic environment,” Mr. Finnigan said.

Mayor Jeff Drayton encouraged residents to take the opportunity to have their say on the 2026/2027 Operational Plan.

“This is a valuable opportunity for our community to help shape the direction of the Shire,” Mayor Drayton said.

“It is important that we hear from our residents — your feedback ensures our plans reflect what matters most to the people we serve.”

Community members are encouraged to review the draft documents and provide feedback before close of business on 28 May 2026. Submissions can be made via Council’s website or in writing.

Submissions should be addressed to the General Manager and can be submitted in the following ways:
