Olympic Park is one of Muswellbrook’s premier sporting venues, home to junior and senior rugby league and touch football, velodrome and tennis courts. It is located in the same precinct as the Aquatic Centre and Golf Club and has Muscle Creek as its southern border.
The Olympic Park Master Plan consultation process has been extensive with key stakeholders and the community and has included many meetings and workshops with individuals and user groups.
Stage 1, adopted by Council following community consultation, addresses significant issues with parking and access.
Stage 1, adopted by Council following community consultation, addresses significant issues with parking and access (via construction of a bridge, formal car parking and shared pathways); over-use of fields (with the installation of field drainage) and improvement to the aesthetics and functionality of the site (with new amenities and landscaping).
Construction of a 100 spaces car park is now complete with provision for additional car parking to be provided. Planning for the bridge across Muscle Creek to Wilder Street is well underway. Installation of intelligent lighting throughout the precinct is expected to be completed in coming months. Walkways have been constructed along part of the riparian corridor of Muscle Creek and will continue to the Golf Course. Designs for the amenities and function areas adjacent to the grandstand and new grandstand design are progressing.
