What Council discussed, decided and held over
Muswellbrook Shire Council Ordinary Council Meeting Tuesday 31 August 2021
Development Application 2021-33 for the continued operation of a wind monitoring mast, Sandy Creek Rd, McCullys Gap was approved for a period of six months from the date of determination.
Development Application 2021-30 proposing 24 hour/7 days operation of the drive-thru at Macdonald’s Muswellbrook was approved for a 12-month trial period and new, highly visible “residential area” signage recommended for installation.
Public Exhibition – the following draft sections of Council’s Development Control Plan are to be placed on Public Exhibition for 60 days:
- Section 13 – Flooding
- Section 16 – Car Parking and Access.
A Draft Planning Proposal will seek an amendment to the Muswellbrook Local Environment Plan 2009 to insert a new clause, 4.1C Exceptions to minimum lot size for boundary adjustments and amend Clause 7.5 for erection of dwelling houses on land in certain rural and environment protection zones. The draft requires approval from the Director General of Planning Industry and Environment before being placed on Public Exhibition.
2021-2022 Major Landcare Capital Works Program was endorsed. The program includes further rehabilitation and maintenance works at Muscle Creek, a native plant walkway in Hyde Park Denman and grant funding for local Landcare groups.
The Draft Development Servicing Plan-Water Supply and Draft Development Servicing Plan - Sewerage Services will be placed on Public Exhibition for 30 days. A further report will be submitted to Council following the Public Exhibition period.
Corporate and Community Services
An internal working party is to be formed to start planning for the 2022 Australia Day Awards, Citizenship Ceremony and Family Fun Day. Nominations for the Awards are open now and close on September 30.
Sponsorship of $20,000 was approved for the HunterWise Outreach 2022 program. HunterWise aims to promote STEM learning in regional communities and works to positively influence school age girls’ perceptions of and participation in STEM.
Following community consultation Council will apply to the Minister for Employment and Public Services for a Half Day Public Holiday (from noon) on Friday 1 April for Muswellbrook Cup Race Day.
The updated Olympic Park Masterplan – Grandstand and Amenities Design – Option 3 will be placed on Public Exhibition for not less than 28 days. Council will prepare a Development Application for the design if no substantive changes or recommendations are received in submissions.
